Description
I live in Nowe Miasto on Franciszkańska Street. Before World War II it was a very popular street among Jewish residents of Warsaw. The pandemic put me away of the city. Away from the streets of Muranów, the Old and New Town, where I walk most often. So I started searching the archives with a view of finding the typeface of Jewish shop signs that had completely disappeared from the streets of Warsaw. While looking for inspiration, I came across the Warsaw newspaper Głos Gminy Żydowskiej. The typeface of its title letter had interesting decorations and an irregular shadow. I was charmed by the letters Ł and S in different versions. The letter Ł itself reminds me strongly of Warsaw and its characteristic pronounciation by the indigenous Varsovians. Font Głos refers to important events through posters.
