Animation referring to the symbolism of miners like St. Barbara and symbols of
mining. The process of collecting information about mining has resulted
with the conclusion that the Polish mining industry has already been doomed, only politicians do not want to
communicate it loudly. At the same time, miners are the strongest professional group. According
yo mining analyses, most miners belong to trade unions, some
even to several. On the one hand, it is an example of professional cooperation, and at the same time
the position of a ruthless force that arouses in society often bad associations and
sense of unequal treatment. The film presents a narrative where mining has was
doomed to a shutdown. What will this process be like? Will unions use their power for a
mild transformation or to protest? During the talks on the project
it was stated that St. Barbara must die. Will she be reborn in green energy or her
tradition must go away with coal? Animation created using image processing using a visual library
Processing and Python programming language. Original musical composition, combined with sound editing from the interview
with a coal industry analyst.
Parametric architecture uses the latest technologies, algorithms and mathematics. As a basis, it uses the idea of parameterization, i.e. creating projects related
with requirements in the model, where changing one value causes recalculation of the entire project. Its form amazes and sometimes shocks. The book deals with parametricism, a style which considers itself the successor of the Avant-garde and derives from parametric design. Parametricism as a style in architecture was named by Patrik Schumacher, associate of Zaha Hadid. Whether this is a true parametric architecture is argued by many architects. It arouses emotions and admiration. Continuity of lines, visual nature, inspiration by the shapes of nature, and the choice of technology make them one of the most spectacular buildings in the history of architecture.
I live in Nowe Miasto on Franciszkańska Street. Before World War II it was a very popular street among Jewish residents of Warsaw. The pandemic put me away of the city. Away from the streets of Muranów, the Old and New Town, where I walk most often. So I started searching the archives with a view of finding the typeface of Jewish shop signs that had completely disappeared from the streets of Warsaw. While looking for inspiration, I came across the Warsaw newspaper Głos Gminy Żydowskiej. The typeface of its title letter had interesting decorations and an irregular shadow. I was charmed by the letters Ł and S in different versions. The letter Ł itself reminds me strongly of Warsaw and its characteristic pronounciation by the indigenous Varsovians.
