We are pleased to present an online platform with selected art projects by students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. This project is a presentation of the educational achievement of all faculties of our Academy. It was created in a response to the pandemic and the resulting restrictions on the presentation of works within the Academy walls.

We strongly believe that the essence of creative activities is to confront the audience. The Academy in Warsaw has always considered this element crucial for the teaching and work with students, both for the development of young artists' awareness, and more importantly, for its own identity. This is why we have always organized and supported so many artistic events: Open Academy, Coming Out, Night of Museums and dozens of exhibitions of student works at the Academy of Fine Arts and outside of it.

We have known since March that the forms of presentation must change. However, faith and the accompanying pride in the work of students of the Academy did not change.

As a result of these reflections, a proposal appeared for the first systemic presentation in the history of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw of the implementations of students, and thus the vision of the curriculum and the studios run by the professors.

Platform ONLINE 2020: exhibition of works by students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw

presents over a thousand works, as well as over three hundred students growing in studios at nine faculties. The aim of the online exhibition is to present the educational process and what assignments students deal with in each year of their studies, and how they affect the further development of their artistic sensitivity.

We are aware that we do not have the presentation possibilities offered by the traditional end-of-year exhibition, or the Open Academy. Due to technical constraints, we are not able to show the works of all 1,600 students of the Academy. We also cannot present all the great studios. With this in mind, we decided to invite a group of teachers and deans of the nine faculties to act as the curators. Thanks to their work and commitment, the online exhibition presents selected works that best reflect the specificity of the Academy.

I am convinced that the way we are currently introducing the fruits of the joint work of all those who make up the Academy: students, teachers and administrative staff, is an opportunity for many to meet the young art.  At the same time, we take all possible measures to disseminate the art of young artists and thus fulfill the mission of the Academy. I want to thank the entire Academy community. Especially the students who, despite the particularly difficult situation, do not cease to amaze us with their skills, determination and sensitivity to the world. Also teachers, deans and employees of the Academic Career Office for their commitment, time and invaluable support in promoting these wonderful works
